Description
This Student Practice Workbook begins by teaching handwriting of lower case and capital letters, and numbers 1 – 20, on Year 2 lines. As a guide to letter formation, it uses the same pictures of objects that both mimic letter shape and begin with the same sound, that were used in Beginners Handwriting and Book 1 Handwriting. Only the ‘Writing Talk’ said by the teacher and student as they write changes slightly to incorporate the Year 2 lines.
Book 2 Handwriting then transitions to Cursive Entries and Exits, taught on Year 2 lines, using the same letter pictures, but with consistent red entries and exits added. Cursive joining of letters is also taught in a simple way. Traffic light cues guide correct letter formation on Year 2 lines, without reversals. Consequently Year 2 and 3 students quickly develop automatic handwriting using this consistent approach. Practice is fun using many coloured pencils, ‘Rainbow Writing’, or using the transparent wipe clean overlay sheet included, with a whiteboard marker. Individual ownership of this Practice Workbook accelerates fast, automatic handwriting and literacy success. Book 2 Handwriting includes a Handwriting Overview, as well as Learning Method Instructions.
Recommended for Year 2 and 3 students, depending on when cursive handwriting is introduced.
